How Does an Access Control System Work?

An access control system manages entry and exit to secured areas using authentication methods such as keycards, PIN codes, biometrics, or mobile credentials. When a user presents their credential, the system sends the data to a controller, which checks it against an authorized database. If verified, access is granted by unlocking the door; if not, access is denied. The system also logs all activity and can assign different access levels for enhanced security and control.
